North Korean foreign ministry strongly condemns U.S. crackdown on North Korean human rights

The United States will hold an informal meeting of the United Nations Security Council on Friday to discuss human rights abuses in North Korea, Reuters reported. According to the note submitted by the United States and Albania: “North Korea’s human rights violations and abuses threaten international peace and security and are directly related to North Korea’s illicit weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missile programs.”
The DPRK Foreign Ministry statement said, “The heinous hostility of the United States against our country has reached a serious level that we cannot stand idly by. The US’s despicable suppression of ‘human rights’ is the most concentrated expression of its hostile policy towards the DPRK. The DPRK strongly condemns this and condemns it. Totally opposed.”
The statement pointed out that it is a well-known fact that the United States used “human rights issues” long ago as a despicable tool for interference in internal affairs aimed at bringing down the sovereign state system and regime change. The futile anti-North Korean “human rights” confrontation activities of the United States will only reveal that it is at a disadvantage in the contest with us, and it is approaching the point where it can no longer stand and has no way out.

The statement emphasized that human rights are state rights, and it is the legitimate right of a sovereign state to use all available means in order to safeguard state rights. The DPRK has repeatedly reiterated that in order to resolutely safeguard national sovereignty and interests, it will take super-strong countermeasures against the most despicable hostile conspiracy activities of the United States and its followers.
