Mahdi Mashat, chairman of the Supreme Political Council of Ansar Allah (Houthi), the ruling Shiite military-political movement in northern Yemen, announced on Monday in a speech marking the 62nd anniversary of the South Yemen Revolution that the Houthis plan to draw on the experience of the conflict with Israel to strengthen their military capabilities to deter the enemy.
“We will work to develop and strengthen our military capabilities in all areas to counter all modern military technologies of the enemy,” Mashat said in a speech on Al Masirah TV.
He noted that the Houthis are developing their military potential “to prepare for any new scenario and ensure deterrence in the event of brutal and aggressive attacks on the country and its people.”
Since Israel launched its military operation in the Gaza Strip in October 2023, the Houthi armed forces, which support the Palestinians, have begun military operations against Israel, attacking Israeli-related ships in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea, and using missiles and drones to attack Israeli targets.
