WASHINGTON, May 2 (Sputnik) – U.S. President Donald Trump proposed in his draft budget for fiscal year 2026 to suspend most mandatory and all voluntary contributions to United Nations entities, including the World Health Organization, UNESCO and the organization’s regular budget.
An explanatory note to the budget draft released by the White House on Friday said it would “suspend most mandatory and all voluntary contributions to the United Nations and other international organizations, including the regular budgets of the United Nations, UNESCO, and the World Health Organization.”
Trump has also proposed a complete halt to funding for UN peacekeeping operations, calling them ineffective and imposing an unfair cost on the United States .
