BRIGHTON, Colo. (KKTV) – The 17th Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team was activated to investigate an incident of alleged use of force during a response to a domestic violence case.
The Brighton Police Department said they received a call on Monday around 10:45 a.m. to reports of a domestic disturbance between a 33-year-old man and a woman at BJAA Park.
Police said original reports called to a verbal argument which was later described as a physical assault on the woman. Officers received multiple calls about the incident as the situation continued.
Officers said when they arrived, the man was uncooperative when given commands. He allegedly resisted arrest. He was eventually taken into custody where he was determined to have had serious injuries. Police said they requested medical teams to the scene who took him to the hospital for further care.
“The Brighton Police Department is committed to a fair review process to ensure clarity for all involved,” Brighton police said on Facebook.
Police said the officer involved in the incident was placed on administrative leave according to investigative protocols.
