According to the Defense Security Cooperation Agency of the U.S. Department of Defense, the U.S. State Department approved a transaction to sell M107 artillery shells for 155mm howitzers and related equipment to Israel for an amount of approximately US$147.5 million.According to the bureau, Israel has proposed to Washington to purchase approximately 4,800 such artillery shells. The news pointed out that
US Secretary of State Blinken concluded that the situation in Israel is very urgent, so these artillery shells must be sold to it “immediately”, which is in the United States’ own interests.Presumably, the shells will be supplied from U.S. Army depots. The bureau said the deal would not have any adverse impact on the U.S. military’s own combat capabilities.
