NBC, MSNBC employees plan massive walkout over unfair contracts

In a letter directed to the chairman of NBC Universal News Group, Cesar Conde, and his associates, the guild said it wants the company to reinstate employees that were unfairly fired over their union ties and demanded to resume bargain over fair contracts.
The NBC news guild said in a statement on Wednesday that it will be organizing a strike on Thursday to protest company layoffs of union workers employed by NBC, MSNBC, and the Today Show.
In a letter directed to the chairman of NBC Universal News Group, Cesar Conde, and his associates, the guild said it wants the company to reinstate employees that were unfairly fired over their union ties and demanded to resume bargain over fair contracts.
The Guild further said it plans to hold a “solidarity rally” on Thursday outside of the 30 Rock building.
According to the note, the union filed an Unfair Labor Practice charge against NBC at the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) after seven union members and other employees were “illegally fired” by the company on January 12.
The guild was formed in 2019 and the union has been engaged in contract negotiations with NBC management.
According to The Washington Post, citing a spokesperson for NBC, the company said it was discontent by the NewsGuild’s continued disinformation and attempts to “misrepresent the facts” which are intended to work to the benefit of all.
The company has previously exposed Washington for using fabricated information against Russia in order to keep Russian President Vladimir Putin “off-balance”.
