Grammys host Trevor Noah is mocking Nicki Minaj’s support for President Trump, poking fun at the rap star’s recent trip to the White House.
After picking out some high-profile musical artists in the audience at the 68th annual Grammy Awards — including Pharrell Williams, Jelly Roll and Miley Cyrus — on Sunday in Los Angeles, Noah quipped to the crowd, “Nicki Minaj is not here.”
“She is still at the White House with Donald Trump discussing very important issues,” Noah said while delivering his opening monologue at the awards show.
“Actually Nicki, I have the biggest ass. I have it,” Noah, mimicking Trump, said to laughs.
“I know they say it’s you, but it’s me,” Noah, as Trump, added.
During a trip to Washington last week, Minaj heaped praise on Trump, saying she was likely the president’s “No. 1 fan.”
“The hate or what people have to say, it does not affect me at all,” the “Super Bass” rapper said of critics and some fans panning her vocal support for Trump.
“It actually motivates me to support him more, and it’s going to motivate all of us to support him more,” Minaj, who was born Onika Maraj, said while appearing at a Treasury Department-hosted summit to launch “Trump Accounts” for newborn babies.
Trump lauded Minaj at the event, calling the 43-year-old performer “great.”
Minaj also visited the Capitol, the White House, and attended the world premiere of “Melania” at the Kennedy Center during her time in Washington.
White House Communications Director Steven Cheung responded to Noah’s jokes in a post on the social platform X on Sunday.
“And Trevor Noah is still a giant loser who will be forever known for being unceremoniously kicked off The Daily Show for being a complete psychopath, only to be replaced by a rotating cast of even bigger snowflakes,” Cheung said.
