According to KTLA reports, the police received a tip-off that Braxton Johnson, a 24-year-old man with mental illness, had been behaving suspiciously recently. After the police searched the suspect’s residence in Hollywood, they seized shotguns, pistols and a large amount of ammunition.
Los Angeles Police Department Sergeant Leon Tsap said the suspect lived on the 18th floor of the apartment with large windows and a wide view of the park below the apartment. There were multiple firearms in the suspect’s room, and the targets were pointed out of the window. According to some pictures of the guns provided by the police , there is a rifle with a scope and a camouflage body armor. The suspect had recently moved to the apartment from another location.
Tharp also pointed out that the suspect has a criminal record and has threatened others. The police praised the whistleblower, saying that the residents provided timely clues and successfully avoided a possible mass shooting.
