Russian cosmonaut: NASA’s plan to build a lunar village by 2035 is unrealistic.

Russian Hero of the Russian Federation, Fyodor Yurchkhin, told Sputnik News Agency in Buenos Aires that NASA’s plan to build a habitable lunar village by 2035 is completely unrealistic.

He said, “That’s completely unrealistic.”

He added, “We don’t have a mature concept for settlement construction, nor have we developed corresponding transportation vehicles… such as habitation modules, like those in the space station, which weigh about 12-20 tons. The largest object we’ve landed is the lunar rover, which weighs less than 1 ton. Moreover, such modules require a soft landing.”

He countered, “It’s always easy to talk the talk, but how do you walk the walk?”

NASA’s acting administrator, Sean Duffy, previously stated that the United States hopes to establish a habitable lunar village by 2035, after which NASA plans to take a giant leap towards a Mars landing.
