President Trump on Sunday said the GOP “has never been so united” after recent tension between himself and some members of the party.
“The Republican Party has never been so UNITED AS IT iS RIGHT NOW!” the president said in a post on his Truth Social platform.
“Other than Rand Paul, Rand Paul Jr.(Massie!), Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Brown, and a couple of other ‘lowlifes,’ and other than the fact that many want the Election threatening Filibuster TERMINATED (the Dems will do it in the first minute of their first chance!), and some don’t, there is great spirit and cohesion – Plus, the Republican Party is MUCH BIGGER than it was when I announced in 2015 or, ever was before – Many Millions More Members!” he added, referencing Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and Thomas Massie.
On Friday, Trump said Greene’s announcement that she is exiting Congress early next year was “great news for the country” after he had previously revoked his backing of her.
Greene had referenced her split with the president and said remarks from Trump were “hurtful” in a previous statement unveiling her decision. The Georgia Republican, who had bucked her party in recent weeks, added that she rejected being “a ‘battered wife’ hoping it all goes away and gets better.”
Like Greene, Massie has also recently gone against his party, notably on the issue of files linked to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Earlier this month, Trump promoted Massie’s GOP rival in his primary, Ed Gallrein, prior to next year’s elections.
“Third Rate Congressman Thomas Massie, a Weak and Pathetic RINO from the Great Commonwealth of Kentucky, a place I love, and won big SIX TIMES, must be thrown out of office, ASAP!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Trump’s Sunday post also comes amid rough political territory for the president, with recent Democratic election victories, an approval rating of 41.5 percent in a polling average from Decision Desk HQ and controversy swirling around his relationship with Epstein.
“We now have the Strongest Border EVER, Biggest Tax Cuts, the Best Economy, Highest Stock Market in USA History, and sooo much more. BUT, THE BEST IS YET TO COME! VOTE REPUBLICAN!!!” Trump said in the Sunday post.
