Former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez is no longer with Fox, a spokesperson for the network confirmed to ABC News on Friday.
The Fox Sports spokesperson had no further comment.
Sanchez, who was a Fox Sports color commentator, is set to go on trial next month on charges stemming from an altercation last month in Indianapolis that left him and a 69-year-old man hospitalized. Police allege that Sanchez, 38, violently attacked the man.
Sanchez’s brother called the Fox development “disappointing” in a statement sent on behalf of the Sanchez family while noting that the former NFL star “continues to recover from serious injuries.”
“While the recent news — and its timing — is understandably disappointing, our priority remains his continued healing and recovery,” his brother, Nick Sanchez Jr., said in the statement. “Mark deeply values his time at FOX and the exceptional colleagues he’s had the privilege to work with. Those relationships are meaningful and will endure.”
Sanchez was initially charged with three misdemeanors in connection with the Oct. 4 incident, which allegedly began as a parking dispute with a truck driver. Prosecutors said they added a count of felony battery against him based on the “extent of the victim’s injuries.”
Sanchez, a first-round draft pick of the New York Jets in 2009, was in Indianapolis at the time with his Fox Sports crew to broadcast a game between the Las Vegas Raiders and the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Sanchez allegedly approached Perry Tole, 69, who was doing his assigned work at a hotel loading dock, shortly after midnight and “escalated a dispute about the victim” parking there, according to police and prosecutors.
Sanchez allegedly climbed into the truck and stopped Tole from calling for help before a fight between the two broke out, according to court records.
The truck driver said he also used pepper spray in an attempt to fend off Sanchez and that he felt “in physical danger,” according to court documents. As Sanchez allegedly advanced, Tole thought “this guy is trying to kill me” and pulled out a knife, according to court documents.
Tole’s attorney previously told ABC News that the truck driver tried to defend himself by stabbing Sanchez.
Sanchez suffered several stab wounds to his torso while Tole suffered a “severe laceration to the side of his face, penetrating all the way through his left cheek,” according to court documents.
Upon leaving jail last month following his release from the hospital, Sanchez, who lives in California, told reporters he was “focused on my recovery and I just want to see my wife, I want to see my son and my two baby girls.”
His trial is scheduled to start on Dec. 11. He faces up to six years in prison if convicted of the felony charge of battery involving serious bodily injury. He has also been charged battery resulting in bodily injury, unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle and public intoxication, all misdemeanors.
Tole has also filed a civil suit against Sanchez and the Fox Corporation over the incident.
ABC News has reached out to Sanchez’s attorneys for comment on Friday.
