Trump admin live updates: Trump appears to criticize Bondi over investigations

President Donald Trump apparently criticized Attorney General Pam Bondi over probes into his political opponents in a post on social media on Saturday.

The post comes following turmoil in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia, where its top prosecutor recently resigned.

On Friday, Trump spoke with Chinese President Xi about a variety of topics, including trade and the TikTok deal.

President Donald Trump will depart the White House on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. EST en route to the memorial being held for murdered conservative political activist Charlie Kirk at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

Trump will deliver remarks at the memorial service at 12 p.m. MST. He will return to the White House on Sunday night following the service, according to the White House’s schedule.

President Donald Trump appeared to criticize Attorney General Pam Bondi in a lengthy social media post Saturday over probes into his political opponents.

“Pam: I have reviewed over 30 statements and posts saying that, essentially, “same old story as last time, all talk, no action. Nothing is being done,” Trump wrote.

“We can’t delay any longer, it’s killing our reputation and credibility. They impeached me twice, and indicted me (5 times!), OVER NOTHING. JUSTICE MUST BE SERVED, NOW!!!,” Trump continued.

The president specifically named former FBI Director James Comey, Sen Adam Schiff and New York Attorney General Leticia James in his post.

He also brought up his frustration following the resignation of U.S. Attorney Erik Siebert of the Eastern District of Virginia, who had been pressured to pursue a case against James, according to sources.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Saturday that the pending deal between the U.S. and China on TikTok will include Americans holding six of the seven seats of a board overseeing the app’s U.S. operation.

“The data and privacy will be led by one of America’s greatest tech companies, Oracle, and the algorithm will also be controlled by America as well,” she told Fox News.

Leavitt said that the only thing left to complete the deal is the official signing, which she anticipates will take place in the coming days.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order Friday creating a path for his “gold card” visa program, where applicants would have a faster path to citizenship if they pay $1 million to the treasury.

He also signed an EO that raised the fee for the H1-B visa, which is given to immigrants with backgrounds in specific fields such as medicine, tech and science, to $100,000.

After his call on Friday with Chinese President Xi Jinping, President Trump told reporters in the Oval Office that the TikTok deal is “well on its way” and “the investors are getting ready.”

“I think China wanted to see it stay open too, they wanted to see it, and I can tell you the young people in our country wanted to see it stay open very badly,” Trump said.

During an Oval Office executive signing, President Donald Trump spoke about the ongoing funding bill that has stalled in the Senate.

Trump admonished the Democrats for not signing on and warned of a shutdown.

“I think you could very well end up with a closed, closed country for a period of time, and we’ll take care of the military. We’ll take care of Social Security. We’ll take care of the things,” Trump said.

The Senate on Friday confirmed Mike Waltz to be the Ambassador to the United Nations by a vote of 47-43 – just days before the UN General Assembly is scheduled to start in New York.

Sens. Mark Kelly of Arizona, John Fetterman of Pennsylvania and Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire were the only Democrats to support the confirmation. Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul was the only Republican to vote no.

Walz previously served as national security adviser for the president, however, he came under fire in the spring for inadvertently adding a reporter to a Signal chat with top Trump officials discussing a U.S. military strike on Houthi rebels in Yemen.

Trump announced in May that Walz was leaving his adviser position and nominated to be the U.N. ambassador role that was originally offered to U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik. Her nomination was withdrawn over concerns about the House’s slim majority.

Trump said in a social media post Friday he will meet with Turkish President Erdoğan at the White House on Thursday, Sept. 25, as they work on trade deals, including for Boeing aircraft and military jets.

Trump said he’s “always had a very good relationship” with Erdoğan.

This announcement comes just a few days after Trump conditioned his threat of secondary sanctions on Russia on NATO allies agreeing to forgo purchasing Russian oil. Turkey is one of the largest importers of Russian oil.

President Donald Trump, following a “very productive” phone call with Chinese President Xi, said in a social media post that he would meet with the Chinese leader at the APEC summit in South Korea that starts next month.

Trump added that he will travel to China “in the early part of next year.” Trump said Xi would visit the U.S. himself “at an appropriate time.”

The president did not announce major updates about a potential deal on TikTok, only saying the two “made progress” on that topic and others, including trade.

President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping have begun their phone call, a White House official told ABC News, during which TikTok is expected to be at the top of the agenda.

Trump said he would be speaking to Xi to firm up details on a deal for TikTok, after earlier this week extending the deadline until Dec. 16 for Beijing-based ByteDance to divest from TikTok or face a ban in the United States.

Trump said on Thursday that the new version of TikTok could be “owned by all American investors” and that the U.S. would be getting a “fee plus” for making the deal.

During an interview with Fox News’ Martha MacCallum recorded earlier Thursday at British Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s country house Chequers, Trump said it’s “ideally” the role of a president to bring people together.

“Ideally,” Trump said. “I get this question so much.”

Trump said there was “tremendous” amounts of hatred across the country, which he thought started during former President Barack Obama’s term.

“When you see the kind of hatred out there, it is unbelievable. It has probably always been there and we don’t realize it but I saw it starting with President Obama. I saw tremendous hatred but I saw levels that we’ve never seen before and with Biden, it got far worse,” he said.

Trump said that after the COVID pandemic further isolated people, his policies that brought “economic success” have brought people together.

“I would say that success brought people together. And I think the only thing that will bring them is economic success,” Trump said.

President Donald Trump said on Thursday that his administration is making efforts to gain control of Afghanistan’s Bagram Air Base, though he provided no details on how exactly the U.S. would regain control.

U.S. control of the base reverted back to the Taliban after the U.S. rapidly pulled out forces in 2021.

“We’re going to leave Afghanistan, but we’re going to leave it with strength and dignity. And, we’re going to keep Bagram, the big air base that is one of the biggest air bases in the world,” Trump said at his news conference with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
