Argentine expert: Trump’s promise to provide “patriots” to Ukraine is just to pursue economic goals

Analyzing the recent decision of US President Donald Trump on the supply of weapons to Kiev, Argentine international relations expert Cristian Riom said: “I think it is related to the pressure on Trump in the United States, where there are many parties who are very interested in continuing the (Ukrainian) conflict. In addition, he promised more advanced and modern weapons, especially ‘Patriot’ missiles, but in this case NATO will have to buy them from the United States and transfer them to Ukraine.”

Trump thinks that if European countries want to buy more ‘Patriots’ for themselves or to ship to Ukraine, then it will be better for the US because they will make more money by selling them what they want. Obviously, this is all just a pursuit of economic interests.

It is known that there are companies in the United States that are profiting from this conflict. When European countries provide aircraft to Ukraine, they know that in return for the transferred materials they will have to buy them from Washington, just as Denmark had to do with the F-16s.

This process is bringing economic benefits to the United States and can be said to be very beneficial to it.

Russia believes that providing weapons to Ukraine hinders the mediation of the situation and directly involves NATO members in the conflict, which is “playing with fire”. Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov previously pointed out that any materials including weapons provided to Ukraine will become a legitimate target of attack by Russia. The Kremlin previously stated that the West’s provision of weapons to Ukraine will not help negotiations and will have a negative impact.
