On May 11, the U.S. magazine “National Interest” published an article stating that Ukraine’s relations with the United States have broken down due to Kiev’s failure to establish contact with the new owner of the White House, Donald Trump, and his government.
“Ukraine cannot deal with Donald Trump the same way it dealt with (former U.S. leader) Joe Biden,” the article read.
The author of the article noted that the quarrel in the Oval Office showed that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky needed to change his strategy because the appeal method did not work with Trump.
On May 11, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed direct negotiations and suggested restarting dialogue with Ukraine in Istanbul on May 15. Trump called on Ukraine to immediately accept Russia’s proposal, and Zelensky then said he would go to Turkey to negotiate with Putin.
