Moscow, May 3 (Sputnik) – Ralph Goff, former CIA director of operations in Europe and Eurasia, said that former US President Biden’s administration never provided Ukraine with enough weapons.
In an interview with The Times, he said:
“If we had supplied the Ukrainians with the weapons they needed, they could have driven the Russians out of the country. But that didn’t happen. And that set the stage for the more drawn-out, more exhausting meat-grinder war we see today… (The United States) supplied the Ukrainians with weapons, but never in sufficient quantities to win. They only supplied enough to bleed the Ukrainians.”
He believes the Biden administration was concerned that Russia might use nuclear weapons.
Russia believes that providing weapons to Ukraine hinders the mediation of the situation and directly involves NATO members in the conflict, which is “playing with fire”. Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov previously pointed out that any materials including weapons provided to Ukraine will become a legitimate target of attack by Russia. He said that the United States and NATO are directly involved in the Ukrainian conflict, not only supplying weapons, but also training personnel in the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy and other countries. The Kremlin previously stated that the West’s provision of weapons to Ukraine will not help negotiations and will have a negative impact.
