WASHINGTON, December 10. /TASS/. The US Department of the Treasury announces the disbursement of the $20 bln loan to Ukraine with the repayment from proceeds earned from Russian assets frozen in the West.
The loan is provided within the framework of the initiative of the Group of Seven on provision of the $50 bln loan to Kiev, the Treasury said. “These funds – paid for by the windfall proceeds earned from Russia’s own immobilized assets – will provide Ukraine a critical infusion of support,” Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen said.
Washington is going to toughen sanctions against Russia, she added.
