The “Daily Show” host slammed this as a “losing strategy” that’s been known for decades.
“Daily Show” host Jon Stewart said Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign had a “secret weapon” that was supposed to help defeat Donald Trump.
That’s the campaign’s record fundraising haul, which was used in part on a massive ground game. Volunteers knocked on 5 million doors in Pennsylvania alone, where some voters said they had two or three visits from campaign workers.
“You know, if there’s one thing people love more than someone appearing randomly at their door once, it’s that same fucking person coming back two or three times to talk politics,” Stewart said. “Even though everyone from vacuum salesmen to Jehovah’s Witnesses know that’s a losing strategy ― in fact, they’ve known that for decades ― let’s just spend a quarter of a billion dollars on it.”
He said the Harris campaign repeatedly insisted that democracy was on the ballot and hired lawyers around the nation ready to fight Trump after the election. The campaign also enlisted county clerks, secretaries of state and others in the effort.
They just forgot the most important element: voters.
“It turns out the election was stolen,” Stewart said sarcastically. “By more people voting for Donald Trump. It’s quite a caper: ‘Ocean’s 74 Million.’”
