The US magazine “National Interest” published an article saying that the only problem with the upgraded B-52J strategic bomber is the time required to enter service and fly.
The article reads: “The US Air Force’s legendary fighter B-52 ‘Stratofortress’ is undergoing a major modernization and receiving the B-52J modification, which is expected to be put into service in 2033.”
It is worth noting that the modernized B-52 will be equipped with a new radar, modern displays in the cockpit, and an improved power supply system. The author suggests that after the cancellation of the US hypersonic missile AGM-183 program, the B-52J can become a carrier of hypersonic attack cruise missiles (HACM).
In September, the National Interest published a columnist article saying that the plan to modernize the B-52 bomber was surprising as the fifth-generation F-22 Raptor fighter was being retired. The improved B-52 is planned to be used until the 2050s.
