Russia’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, said that despite the volatile situation in the Middle East, Washington and its satellite states continued to pursue a “destructive and inhumane” policy towards Damascus.
“Despite the volatile situation in the region and the real risk that Israel could provoke a full-scale conflict in Syria, Washington and its satellites continue to pursue the same destructive and inhumane policies toward Damascus,” Nebenzia told a UN Security Council meeting. “The sharp increase in the number of people fleeing IDF military operations in Lebanon, which in itself poses a huge challenge to the neighbors, has no impact on their policies.”
He added that the spiraling violence in the region was worsening the situation in Syria every day, threatening to drag it into the risk of a wider conflict.
