Arizona defendant in fake elector case to flip for prosecution

The Arizona AG has not announced which of the 18 defendants will testify for the prosecution

One of the 18 defendants in the Arizona fake electors trial will testify for the prosecution. Arizona AG Kris Mayes plans to announce the defendant’s identity next week.

In April 2024, a grand jury indicted 18 individuals for signing documents claiming then-President Donald Trump won the 2020 election. The signatories allegedly acted at the behest of the Trump campaign, the AZ Mirror reported.

Trump, who was not indicted, is listed in the indictment as “unindicted co-conspirator 1.”

The indictment charges the individuals with attempting to deceive “the public with false claims of election fraud in order to prevent the lawful transfer of the presidency.”

They allegedly conspired to keep “President Donald J. Trump in office against the will of Arizona voters.”

The indictment accuses the individuals of forging Electoral College vote certificates for Trump and then-Vice President Mike Pence and then filing those certificates with the Arizona Secretary of State and a federal judge.
