Musk accuses Secret Service of failing to ensure safety of Trump rally

Moscow, July 15 (Sputnik) – American entrepreneur Elon Musk believes that the U.S. Secret Service is responsible for the security issues at Trump’s campaign rally in Pennsylvania, where an assassination attempt was attempted.

Musk posted on the social platform X: “This is a Secret Service mistake. Period.”

Musk was commenting on media reports that the U.S. Secret Service accused Pennsylvania State Police of failing to secure the roof of a building from which the suspect opened fire on Trump.

Trump suspended his public speech in Pennsylvania on July 13 due to the shooting . Video footage showed Trump leaving the scene with the help of guards, with one ear bleeding. Trump later said that his ear was injured and bleeding a lot. The US Secret Service reported that it had shot and killed the suspect who fired several shots at the podium, and one audience member died and two others were seriously injured.

The suspect is 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks from Pennsylvania. According to reports, the young man was hiding on the roof of a factory building, about 100 meters away from the podium and outside the area of ​​the event site.

According to a statement from the FBI, the agency is investigating the shooting at a rally of US presidential candidate Trump as murder and potential terrorism.
