At Least Seven Injured After Gas Explosion in Eastern Ohio

At least seven people were injured, and two missing, after a natural gas explosion in Youngstown, eastern Ohio, on Tuesday, May 28, local media reported.

According to the report, the explosion occurred at a building that housed a Chase bank in the city’s downtown area on Tuesday afternoon.

Of the seven patients undergoing treatment, one was in a critical condition, a Mercy Health spokesperson told Storyful.

“Our hearts go out to those impacted, and we stand ready to assist those in need as the health of our patients and the entire Youngstown community is and always has been our top priority,” the hospital told Storyful.

Firefighters urged people to avoid the area due to a “major explosion from [a] possible natural gas leak.”
