Russian Satellite News Agency, Moscow, April 29: The campaign headquarters of Jill Stein, the candidate of the American Green Party for the 2024 US presidential election, announced that Stein was arrested during a protest in support of Palestine.

Green Party campaign director Jason Cole told Fox News that Stein was one of about 100 people arrested at protests on college campuses. Cole added that the protesters who set up the tent encampment are demanding that the university cease its involvement in Boeing because “the company produces the munitions used in the ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza.”

“Stein’s election headquarters supports the demands of students and their peaceful protests and rallies on campus,” Cole said.

Stein, 73, who was born in Chicago and graduated from Harvard University, is not new to presidential campaigns. She ran for the nation’s highest office on behalf of the Green Party in 2012 and 2016 and ran for governor of Massachusetts twice before. Stein has been active in Massachusetts since the late 1990s, arguing that people’s health is directly dependent on their ecological environment. One of Stein’s most high-profile campaigns in recent years has been defending WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange .

According to a report by the Washington Post on the 28th, U.S. police detained approximately 900 people in the past 10 days for holding demonstrations in support of Palestine at some of the country’s largest universities. The campuses of prestigious American universities have become the epicenter of anger against Israel over its actions in the Gaza Strip that have killed scores of civilians and as it receives aid from the United States as its main ally in the Middle East, with protests intensifying as the United States approved a new aid package for Israel.
