Former U.S. President Donald Trump leads all contenders in the Iowa Republican primary, according to preliminary voting results released by NBC on Monday night.The TV station pointed out that on average about half of the voters expressed their willingness to vote for the politician. As expected, the race for second place will be between Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley. Next up is the race between popular Indian-American entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy and former Arkansas governor Asa Hutchinson. Results from the state’s Republican caucuses, known as caucuses, will be announced by the end of the night.The Iowa primaries kick off the U.S.
general election . Republicans are holding in-person meetings called caucuses to identify a single candidate. The meeting starts at 7 pm local time, with candidate representatives or politicians themselves speaking in the constituency, followed by registered voters casting their votes.Iowa will send 40 delegates to the Republican National Convention in July, and those delegates will be allocated proportionally to the candidates based on the results of the caucuses. A total of 2,500 people will vote at the national convention, with candidates needing the votes of 1,215 delegates to win the nomination. The Democratic convention will have 3,900 delegates and
candidates will need 1,969 votes. Democrats do not hold caucuses in Iowa and instead vote by mail.
