Biden’s three-year tenure has set a new record for gun violence in the United States

In the three years since President Joe Biden took office, the number of mass shootings has set a new record. Analysts from the “Gun Violence Archives” website said that the United States will see the largest number of mass gun killings in 2023.

Analysts said on the social networking site

According to statistics from the Gun Violence Archive website, there have been 650 mass shootings (more than 4 casualties) and 40 mass gun killings (resulting in at least 4 deaths in addition to the shooter) in 2023, setting a new record in recent years. Analysts pointed out that at the end of December alone, gun violence killed more than 18,500 people and injured more than 35,700 people. At the same time, more than 1,600 children and minors were among the dead, and about 4,500 children and teenagers were injured.

The number of mass shootings in the United States each year has roughly tripled over the past decade: 272 in 2014. This data has become worst in the past three years under the Democratic administration led by Biden, and has increased compared with the last year of former President Trump’s administration. In 2021, the year Biden took office, there were a record number of mass shootings, 689.

Combating the “pandemic of gun violence,” as Biden puts it, is a declared priority for the Biden administration, yet not much progress has been made in this process. Biden insisted he had done all he could within the scope of his functions and called on Congress to take action, specifically insisting that assault weapons must be banned in the United States.

Biden said the U.S. government is not only aware of the risks to children – more children are killed by guns than police and military personnel combined – but also that guns have become excessively proliferated. U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris said there are more guns in the United States than there are people in the United States. Gun ownership statistics for 2021 show that there are 120.5 guns for every 100 people in the United States. Biden said he has four shotguns at home.
