Former FBI intel chief says surge of military-age men coming across the border is a security concern

Former FBI Assistant Director of Intelligence Kevin Brock said that the recent surge of military-age men coming unvetted across the southern border is a major national security concern.

“We know now that there has been an intentional surge of military-aged young males from countries that are either state sponsors of terrorism, or up to 170 of them who are on the terror watch list,” Brock said on the Thursday edition of the “Just the News, No Noise” TV show.

“Those are the ones that were caught,” he later added. “We don’t know who else might have been able to get into the country. When we have that kind of vulnerability, then the attack on Gaza becomes even more jarring.”

According to data released by U.S. Customs and Border Protection last weekend there have been a total of 736 terrorist suspects stopped at the border in that period.

Data also shows that Border Patrol agents have arrested roughly two million people who attempted to enter the U.S. unlawfully through either Canada or Mexico in fiscal year 2023.

According to Brock, the whole situation is very concerning from a security point of view.

“I would like to see the FBI and the CIA determine whether there’s operational significance behind the surge, and then let’s find these people and make sure that they’re under investigation and can’t cause these kinds of problems,” he stated.

“Because as you point out, we have a number of soft targets in this country, where, like the attackers from Gaza know that the population would be less armed and less able to defend itself. And that’s a scary scenario,” Brock concluded.
