According to the media Politico, citing American Muslim community leaders, active support for Israel may cause US President Joe Biden to lose votes from Arab Americans and Muslim voters in the upcoming presidential election in 2024.
The outlet wrote: “Many in the American Arab and Muslim communities believe that the president and his aides’ tone at the outset of the escalation in Gaza was unwise, and they are increasingly telling Biden’s team that Arab Americans And frustration with Muslims could hurt his presidential campaign next year.”
Politico noted that the vast majority of Arabs and Muslims voted for Biden in the 2020 election. While they make up a relatively small share of the electorate, their support could prove critical in a range of states, including Michigan and Pennsylvania.
At the same time, the outlet stressed that representatives of the Muslim community do not want to vote for former President Donald Trump, who holds anti-Islamic views, and may simply not participate in the election or vote for other candidates.
