The University of Miami\u2019s LGBTQ Student Center encourages students to undergo sex change operations through its \u201cTrans Resource Guide.\u201d
The \u201cTrans Resource Guide,\u201d produced by the LGBTQ Student Center, directs students to a number of different services intended to assist students\u2019 attempts to change sex. One such resource is listed as \u201cgender confirmation surgery.\u201d
The resource guide encourages these irreversible surgeries, saying \u201cWhile not all trans or gender non-conforming folx choose to undergo gender affirmation surgery, the process can help alleviate gender dysphoria and significantly increase happiness and quality of life.\u201d
It even directs students to a website on \u201cFinancing and Support for Gender Confirmation Surgery,\u201d which discusses the cost of hormone treatment and a variety of different irreversible surgeries, including phalloplasties, hysterectomies, vaginoplasties, vulvoplasties, and double mastectomies.
The guide states, \u201cThe University of Miami Health System has an LGBTQ Services department that provides medical and mental health services specifically designed to meet the needs of LGBTQ+ patients,\u201d which include \u201ccomprehensive gender affirmation procedures.\u201d
It also promotes several different pro-trans organizations, including some that assist with legal name changes for those who are attempting to transition into the opposite sex.
The LGBTQ Student Center also produced a terminology guide, which includes terms like \u201cagender,\u201d \u201caromantic,\u201d \u201cdemisexual,\u201d \u201cgender fluid,\u201d \u201cgender expression,\u201d and \u201cheterosexual privilege.\u201d There\u2019s also \u201cskoliosexual,\u201d \u201cpolysexual,\u201d and \u201ctwo-spirit.\u201d
The center also promotes a number of different scholarships for those who identify as \u201cLGBTQ.\u201d Eligible applicants for the \u201cPoint Foundation Scholarship\u201d are required to be \u201c\u2018out’\u201d as a person who identifies as a member of the LGBTQ community.\u201d
Meanwhile, the \u201cAqua Scholarship\u201d is \u201copen to all LGBTQ women who are pursuing a degree\u201d while a different scholarship, which awards students $10,000, is open to those pursuing a minor in LGBTQ Studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
