Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R) declared a state of emergency on Friday, as several tornadoes ripped through the state and left at least two dozen injured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHere at the Capitol I just signed an executive order declaring that a State of Emergency exists in the State of Arkansas due to today\u2019s severe weather,\u201d Huckabee Sanders said in a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SarahHuckabee\/status\/1641920722921566208\"><u>tweet<\/u><\/a>. \u201cWe will spare no resource to assist with response and recovery efforts for Arkansans impacted.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She also&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SarahHuckabee\/status\/1641930133970857984\"><u>activated<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;the Arkansas National Guard to assist state and local police, amid reports of \u201csignificant damage.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPraying for all those who were and remain in the path of this storm,\u201d she&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SarahHuckabee\/status\/1641901044203487233\"><u>added<\/u><\/a>. \u201cArkansans must continue to stay weather aware as storms are continuing to move through.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott Jr. said on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FrankScottJr\/status\/1641943093187362818\"><u>Twitter<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;that at least 24 people had been hospitalized in the state\u2019s capital, but no fatalities had been reported as of his 7 p.m. post.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cProperty damage is extensive and we are still responding,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There were also confirmed tornadoes in Iowa, hail fell in Illinois and grass fires blazed in Oklahoma \u2014 part of a massive storm system threatening a broad swath of the country in the South and Midwest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The news also comes as President\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/people\/biden\/\"><u>Biden\u2002<\/u><\/a>and first lady\u00a0Jill Biden\u00a0were visiting Rolling Fork, Miss., on Friday, after tornadoes\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/energy-environment\/3917865-mississippi-tornadoes-leave-at-least-23-dead\/\"><u>ripped through the area<\/u><\/a>\u00a0last week, killing more than 20 people and destroying buildings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/state-watch\/3928850-huc kabee-sanders-declares-state-of-emergency-as-tornado es-rip-through-arkansas\/\">Thehill<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Arkansas Gov.
