Fresh off last week\u2019s primary loss, Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., announced Monday he had filed paperwork for a 2028 run for the House \u2014 or something else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI filed with the [Federal Election Commission] for the 2028 House race. This allows me to raise funds to continue my political operations supporting my position as a current office holder and as a potential candidate for federal office,\u201d Massie wrote on X.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI haven\u2019t made a final decision about which office to seek, if I run,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In an interview Sunday on NBC\u2019s \u201cMeet the Press,\u201d Massie declined to rule out a 2028 presidential bid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI will not rule out anything, and right now I\u2019m not going to rule in anything,\u201d he said. He added, \u201cI\u2019ll take some time and decide what\u2019s next, but I think I will stay engaged in some way or shape. Maybe it\u2019s from the outside. I\u2019ve been exposing what\u2019s going on in Washington, D.C., for years, and I\u2019ll keep doing it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Massie, who was first elected to the House in 2012, soundly lost a primary challenge last week to former Navy SEAL Ed Gallrein, who was backed by President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Trump had labeled Massie a \u201cdisaster\u201d and traveled to his district in March to boost Gallrein. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth also appeared at an event with Gallrein last week ahead of the primary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Massie drew Trump\u2019s ire over his opposition to the war in Iran and Trump\u2019s \u201cbig, beautiful bill\u201d spending package because it added to the deficit. He also teamed with Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., to pass the law to force the Justice Department to release files related to the investigation of late sex offender and onetime Trump friend Jeffrey Epstein.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
