{"id":55938,"date":"2026-04-13T16:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-04-13T21:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=55938"},"modified":"2026-04-14T04:03:47","modified_gmt":"2026-04-14T09:03:47","slug":"cook-political-report-shifts-4-senate-races-toward-democrats","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=55938","title":{"rendered":"Cook Political Report shifts 4 Senate races toward Democrats"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The Cook Political Report shifted four Senate races to the left on Monday but noted that the GOP is still favored to maintain its majority in the upper chamber this November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cWith an increasingly sour national environment for Republicans, the Senate battlefield is shifting in Democrats\u2019 favor,\u201d wrote Jessica Taylor, the Senate and governors editor for the report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cBut due to the difficulty of the map, winning back a majority still remains a tall order,\u201d she continued. \u201cThe GOP remain the narrowing favorites to retain the upper chamber. However, that outlook could change in the coming months.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The report moved two Senate races from \u201cToss Up\u201d to \u201cLean Democrat\u201d: the fight to succeed retiring Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) and Sen. Jon Ossoff\u2019s (D-Ga.) reelection campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">It also moved Sen. Jon Husted\u2019s (R-Ohio) race from \u201cLean Republican\u201d to \u201cToss Up,\u201d and Sen. Pete Ricketts\u2019s (R-Neb.) reelection attempt from \u201cSolid Republican\u201d to \u201cLean Republican.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Husted, whom Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine (R) appointed to replace Vice President Vance in the upper chamber, will likely face former Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) in November. Brown, a veteran of the Senate, lost in 2024 to Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Ricketts, meanwhile, is facing a challenge from independent candidate Dan Osborn \u2014 who lost to GOP Sen. Deb Fischer (Neb.) in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">In North Carolina, former Gov. Roy Cooper (D) and former Republican National Committee Chair Michael Whatley will face off to succeed Tillis. Further south in Georgia, a crowded GOP field \u2014 featuring Reps.
