Trump approval on economy drops to new low: Poll<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A new CNN\/SSRS poll found just 31 percent of respondents approved of President Trump\u2019s handling of the economy, a new low relative to the outlet\u2019s previous surveys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The survey, released Wednesday, found that the president\u2019s approval rating on the economy is 8 percentage points lower than it was in a January poll conducted by CNN\/SSRS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The latest survey also found that more than three-quarters of respondents believe that economic conditions in the U.S. are poor, while 65 percent of respondents said Trump\u2019s policies have worsened economic conditions \u2014 marks that are 8 and 10 points higher than they were in January, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Even among Republicans, the president\u2019s approval rating on the economy is down 14 points relative to January. Among Republicans younger than 45, his approval rating on the economy is down 23 points from the first month of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nearly 3 in 10 Republicans, in fact, said Trump\u2019s policies have worsened economic conditions, up from the 13 percent who said so in January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The polling comes as gas prices continue to increase amid the U.S.-Israeli war with Iran, surpassing $4 per gallon on Tuesday for the first time since 2022, according to AAA. In response to the initial wave of strikes by the U.S. and Israel, the Iranian government limited shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a move that has had ripple effects for global energy prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
