{"id":54756,"date":"2026-03-16T11:58:00","date_gmt":"2026-03-16T16:58:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=54756"},"modified":"2026-03-17T03:08:27","modified_gmt":"2026-03-17T08:08:27","slug":"woman-killed-by-st-patricks-day-parade-float-in-louisville","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=54756","title":{"rendered":"Woman killed by St. Patrick&#8217;s Day parade float in Louisville"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">A St. Patrick&#8217;s Day float struck and killed a woman in Kentucky after the victim&#8217;s foot got caught in one of the procession vehicles and pulled her into harm&#8217;s way, authorities said Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The tragic accident unfolded in Louisville at about 4 p.m. ET Saturday on the parade route on Bardstown Road near Grinstead Drive, Louisville Metro police said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The woman, believed to be in her 50s, was walking along one side of the parade when &#8220;for some unknown reason her foot got caught by the float causing her to fall and she got caught under the vehicle and was struck,&#8221; police said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The float stopped and medical first responders rushed her to University Hospital, where she died shortly after she arrived, police added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The police department&#8217;s traffic unit is investigating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">&#8220;I am so sorry to hear about the tragic accident that took a woman\u2019s life at today\u2019s St. Patrick\u2019s Day Parade,&#8221; Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">&#8220;Please join Rachel and me in keeping her family and friends in your prayers.
