CONNECTICUT (WTNH) \u2014 A baby food sold in Connecticut and 48 other states has been recalled due to a possible health risk, according to the FDA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Initiative Foods issued a recall for Tippy Toes brand Apple Pear Banana Fruit puree due to elevated levels of patulin. This naturally occurring substance is produced by molds that may grow in various fruits, according to the FDA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prolonged exposure to patulin can lead to various adverse health consequences, including a potential for immune suppression, nerve damage, headache, fever and nausea, according to the FDA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The product was distributed in all U.S. states except for Alaska and may have been distributed in the U.S. territories of Guam and Puerto Rico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The lot number 07174 with a \u201cBest By\u201d date of July 17, 2026 has been marked for recall. The affected packages are also marked with the package code \u201cINIA0120.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Customers are urged to check their products. If customers do have products with the July 17, 2026 \u201cBest By\u201d date, they are advised to dispose of them and contact a healthcare provider if concerns arise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Retailers are advised to remove the affected product immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
