Former NFL linebacker Darron Alexander Lee was arrested and charged with his girlfriend\u2019s murder in Tennessee on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Deputies with the Hamilton County Sheriff\u2019s Office responded to a home in Hamilton County on Thursday afternoon following a report of a CPR in progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cUpon arrival, first responders located a female victim and attempted life-saving measures; it was determined she was deceased,\u201d the sheriff\u2019s office said in a news release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Detectives responded to the home and determined that the victim\u2019s cause of death was homicide, according to the sheriff\u2019s office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lee, 31, was identified as the suspect and taken into custody. He was charged with first-degree murder and tampering with evidence, the sheriff\u2019s office said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAdditional charges could be pending following the outcome of the investigation,\u201d the sheriff\u2019s office said. \u201cThe victim\u2019s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lee was a first-round pick in the 2016 NFL draft who went on to play for the New York Jets for three seasons. In 2019 he was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs, and in 2020 he was signed to the Buffalo Bills practice squad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The linebacker was signed to the Las Vegas Raiders in 2021 but was placed on injured reserve and released shortly afterward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The NFL has declined to comment on the arrest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lee is being held at the Hamilton County Jail on no bond. His next court date is scheduled for Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
