The San Francisco Chronicle&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfchronicle.com\/sf\/article\/mountain-lion-pacific-heights-21316657.php\">reported<\/a>&nbsp;the mountain lion had been tranquilized and will be released into the wild.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The mountain lion was first spotted on Monday morning by a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/san-francisco\">San Francisco<\/a>&nbsp;resident who took a video of the animal and alerted authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cIt was so big \u2026 not just a regular cat,\u201d Madrey Hilton told the San Francisco Chronicle. The lion, which \u201cjust looked like it was minding its own business\u201d, scaled a wall and headed into Lafayette Park, she told the newspaper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Mountain lion sightings are rare in San Francisco, where coyotes abound in the city\u2019s many parks, but cougars have been spotted wandering city streets before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">In 2020, a young mountain lion was spotted sleeping in a planter box along a normally busy street and looking at his reflection in the glass of an office tower in downtown San Francisco.
