Dr. Jonathan Reiner, cardiologist to the late former Vice President Dick Cheney, called on Monday for a congressional inquiry into President Trump\u2019s fitness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reiner, a CNN medical analyst, cited Trump\u2019s recent letter to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr St\u00f8re, in which he appeared to link his threats to acquire Greenland to his having not been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis letter, and the fact that the president directed that it be distributed to other European countries, should trigger a bipartisan congressional inquiry into presidential fitness,\u201d Reiner wrote on the social platform X.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Trump\u2019s message, which was shared with multiple European ambassadors, questioned why Denmark has a \u201cright of ownership\u201d over Greenland, a semiautonomous Arctic territory rich in minerals and seen as key to security in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Trump\u2019s continued efforts to acquire Greenland despite pushback from European allies has raised alarm in and out of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe president of the United States is extremely mentally ill and it\u2019s putting all of our lives at risk. The 25th Amendment exists for a reason\u2014we need to invoke it immediately,\u201d Rep. Yassamin Ansari (D-Ariz.) said in an X post, sharing the letter to St\u00f8re.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reiner has previously raised questions about the president\u2019s health and regimen. Last month, he said Trump\u2019s aspirin regimen, which was detailed to the Wall Street Journal, \u201cmakes no sense.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, Trump has shrugged off concerns about his health and fitness. The president also wrote on Truth Social earlier this month that he was in \u201cperfect health\u201d and \u201caced\u201d a cognitive exam for the third consecutive time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
