President Trump\u2002<\/u><\/a>was briefed by CIA Director John Ratcliffe\u2002<\/u><\/a>at the White House on Wednesday, where he was informed that there is that there is no evidence Ukraine launched an attack on Putin\u2019s residence, NewsNation\u2019s Kellie Meyer and Kevin Bohn have learned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The briefing happened two days after Russia accused Ukraine of trying to attack President Vladimir Putin\u2019s\u2002<\/u><\/a>residence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Intelligence reports show Kyiv was targeting another military strike in the same region as Putin\u2019s residence, according to The Wall Street Journal<\/u><\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Office of the Director of National Intelligence has not returned NewsNation\u2019s request for comment. The White House did not immediately respond to additional requests for comment from The Hill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump previously said he was \u201cvery angry\u201d after Putin\u2002<\/u><\/a>called him, describing the planned attack, which further thwarted peace talks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Russia\u2019s claims came a day after the president\u2019s face-to-face with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky,<\/u><\/a> who has been pushing a 20-point peace plan, a counteroffer to the Trump administration\u2019s 28-point plan<\/u><\/a> that it presented to Ukraine before Thanksgiving. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRussia has a long record of false claims \u2014 it\u2019s their signature tactic. For instance, Russia claimed it wouldn\u2019t attack Ukraine in the beginning of 2022. They also often accuse others of what they themselves plan to do. Their words should never be taken at face value,\u201d Ukraine\u2019s Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha wrote<\/u><\/a> in a Tuesday post on X.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moscow has largely drawn away from talks to end the war, demanding land from Kyiv while continuing blows on communities in Ukraine. The stain has left an indelible mark on the Trump administration, as the president previously promised to end the war overnight on the campaign trail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump on Wednesday reposted<\/u><\/a> an editorial<\/u><\/a> from the New York Post dismissing reports on the alleged attack staged by Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s rich that Putin, who has waged a brutal war for nearly four years, believes that any violence in his vicinity merits special outrage. After all, Russia launched 131 drones on Christmas at Kyiv and other cities, killing seven civilians. Civilians,\u201d the editorial board wrote. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Kremlin specifically targets apartment buildings and power plants to punish the ordinary people of Ukraine. The Russians kidnap children. They torture and execute prisoners. Further, Moscow has tried repeatedly to assassinate Zelensky<\/u><\/a>. Any attack on Putin is more than justified,\u201d it continues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
