Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy\u2019s\u2002<\/u><\/a>daughter called the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) \u201cunconstitutional\u201d after undergoing what she described as an \u201cabsurdly invasive\u201d pat-down at airport security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a post Thursday on the social platform X<\/u><\/a>, Evita Duffy-Alfonso detailed her challenging experience as a pregnant woman wanting to avoid the radiation exposure from the full-body scanner at security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Duffy-Alfonso accused TSA agents of pressuring her to walk through the scanner anyway and said she almost missed her flight as a result.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI nearly missed my flight this morning after the TSA made me wait 15 minutes for a pat-down because I\u2019m pregnant and didn\u2019t feel like getting radiation exposure from their body scanner,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe agents were passive-aggressive, rude, and tried to pressure me and another pregnant woman into just walking through the scanner because it\u2019s \u2018safe.\u2019 After finally getting the absurdly invasive pat-down, I barely made my flight,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAll this for an unconstitutional agency that isn\u2019t even good at its job,\u201d she wrote, later adding, \u201cThe \u2018golden age of transportation\u2019 cannot begin until the TSA is gone.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The TSA \u2014 which is housed under the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), not under the Department of Transportation (DOT) \u2014 did not respond to a request for comment. DHS and DOT also did not respond to inquiries from The Hill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Duffy-Alfonso responded to an X user\u2019s comment noting her connection<\/u><\/a> to the Transportation secretary and suggesting, \u201cPerhaps you should run this by him.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe isn\u2019t in charge of TSA. TSA is under DHS, which is run by Kristi Noem,<\/u><\/a>\u201d Duffy-Alfonso responded, referring to the secretary of the Department of Homeland Security. \u201cIf he did have TSA, he\u2019d radically limit it and lobby Congress to abolish it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Duffy-Alfonso has spoken publicly in the past about political issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this year, amid Rep. Anna Paulina Luna\u2019s\u2002<\/u><\/a>(R-Fla.) push to allow proxy voting for new parents in Congress, the secretary\u2019s daughter called the request<\/u><\/a> \u201cunconstitutional\u201d and suggested new parents resign from Congress if they are \u201cunable to fulfill the duties required of a member of Congress.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
