He was 86.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodmorningamerica.com\/video\/87613511\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The news was shared Saturday, Dec. 13, by his son, music producer Abraham \u201cA.B.\u201d Quintanilla III, in an&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DSNPFX8ETrD\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Instagram post<\/a>&nbsp;honoring his father\u2019s life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;It\u2019s with a heavy heart to let you guys know that my Dad passed away today,&#8221; A.B. wrote, alongside a photo of Quintanilla Jr. set to Pedro Infante\u2019s classic song &#8220;Cien A\u00f1os.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Quintanilla Jr. is widely remembered for his central role in shaping the career of Selena, who rose to international fame in the early 1990s and became a defining voice in Tejano and Latin pop music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">As the family\u2019s manager, he guided Selena and her band, and was portrayed by Edward James Olmos in the movie, &#8220;Selena,&#8221; which starred Jennifer Lopez.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Additional details surrounding his death were not immediately released.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/GMA\/Culture\/abraham-isaac-quintanilla-jr-father-selena-quintanilla-dies\/story?id=128373583\">abcnews<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Abraham Quintanilla Jr., the patriarch behind one of the most influential Latin music families of the past century and the father of late Tejano superstar Selena Quintanilla, has died.
