Most Americans are against military action in Venezuela after recent tension in the region, according to a new poll from CBS News\/YouGov.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the poll<\/u><\/a>, 70 percent said they were against \u201cthe U.S. taking military action in Venezuela,\u201d while 30 percent said they were for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The U.S. military has recently bolstered its presence near Venezuela, with the USS Gerald R. Ford making its way to the Caribbean and President Trump\u2002<\/u><\/a>allowing the CIA to go ahead with covert operations<\/u><\/a> inside Venezuela.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) recently advised pilots<\/u><\/a> to \u201cexercise caution\u201d when they are near Venezuela due to the \u201cworsening security situation and heightened military activity\u201d in and around the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The agency\u2019s Friday advisory said that \u201cthreats could pose a potential risk to aircraft at all altitudes\u201d in the Maiquetia Flight Information Region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth\u2002<\/u><\/a>said Thursday the Trump administration\u2019s choice to label Venezuela\u2019s Cartel de los Soles<\/u><\/a> a foreign terrorist organization allowed his department \u201cnew options\u201d to target the alleged drug cartel. Officials have claimed the cartel is led by Venezuelan President Nicol\u00e1s Maduro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWell, it brings a whole bunch of new options to the United States,\u201d Hegseth said in an interview that aired on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n When asked in the CBS News\/YouGov poll about the amount they had \u201cheard or read about the U.S. military buildup in the Caribbean Sea near Venezuela,\u201d 20 percent said \u201ca lot,\u201d 40 percent said \u201csome,\u201d 19 percent said \u201cnot much\u201d and 20 percent said \u201cnothing at all.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n The CBS News\/YouGov poll took place from Nov. 19 to 21, included 2,489 people and had around plus or minus 2.4 percentage points as its margin of error.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
