Police in Concord, North Carolina, say four people were injured when gunfire erupted in a crowd during an annual tree lighting ceremony Friday evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Concord Police Maj. Patrick Tierney, speaking during a press conference, said the shooting happened around 7:30 p.m. on Union Street near Corbin Avenue, just steps from the center of the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police said that the shooting was between two suspects who were known to each other and identified 18-year-old Nasir Ahmad Bostic identified as one of the shooters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bostic, who was shot during the incident, was taken to hospital and listed in critical condition. Authorities said he faces multiple charges, including assault with a deadly weapon, and will be served arrest warrant upon release from the hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The second suspected shooter, who police only identified as a juvenile, was also shot and is currently recovering in hospital listed in critical condition. Police said that the suspect will also be facing multiple charges, including assault with a deadly weapon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A 17-year-old was identified as a third suspect and is facing criminal charges, including accessory after the fact and inciting a riot. They were not injured in the shooting, police said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Emergency personnel from Concord Police, Concord Fire and Cabarrus County EMS were already on site for the ceremony and responded immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In total, four people with gunshot wounds were taken to the hospital, with three of them being listed in critical condition and the other in stable condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Authorities said officers are reviewing video from the event and interviewing witnesses..<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The department said more details will be released as the investigation develops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Concord, a city of about 105,000 people, is located approximately 25 miles northeast of downtown Charlotte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
