Vice President JD Vance\u2002<\/u><\/a>said in an interview that aired on Thursday<\/u><\/a> that neither he nor Secretary of State Marco Rubio\u2002<\/u><\/a>are entitled to the presidency, but said he will have a conversation with President Trump\u2002<\/u><\/a>about the 2028 presidential election after next year\u2019s midterm elections. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019re going to do everything that we can to win the midterms,\u201d Vance told Fox News host Sean Hannity\u2002<\/u><\/a>when asked how he is thinking about the 2028 presidential elections. \u201cAnd then after that, I\u2019m going to sit down with the president of the United States and talk to him about it.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The vice president insisted he was focused on \u201cthe now,\u201d noting that the administration and the current GOP majority in Washington has over a year to implement its agenda. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIf we do a good job, the politics will take care of itself,\u201d Vance said. \u201cSo I\u2019m just going to focus on the job that I have.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hannity went on to ask Vance about his relationship with Rubio<\/u><\/a> and the theory that the two men are rivals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI don\u2019t feel like that at all,\u201d Vance said. \u201cIf Marco eventually runs for president, then we can cross that bridge when we come to it.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPeople have asked me \u2018do you see Marco as a rival,\u2019 and first of all, if either of us end up running, it\u2019s a long ways in the future and neither of us is entitled to it. So I think it would be ridiculous for me to say Marco is a rival. No, Marco is a colleague,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance is considered to be the top candidate to replace Trump in the 2028 presidential election, but Rubio has also been floated as a potential contender. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last month, Trump floated Vance and Rubio as potential successors while aboard Air Force One. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have JD obviously, the vice president, who\u2019s great,\u201d Trump told reporters. \u201cMarco\u2019s great. I\u2019m not sure if anyone would run against those two. I think if they ever formed a group it would be unstoppable.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When asked about his relationship with Rubio following Trump\u2019s remarks, the vice president referred to<\/u><\/a> the secretary of state as his \u201cbest friend\u201d within the administration. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFirst of all, no, there\u2019s not going to be any tension,\u201d Vance told the New York Post\u2019s Miranda Devine on the \u201cPod Force One\u201d podcast. \u201cMarco is my best friend in the administration. He and I work a lot together and we really do, I think \u2014 a lot of the good work that we do as an administration is because we\u2019re all able to work together.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
