Coli.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The recalled cheeses were made with raw and unpasteurized milk and sold from July 27 through October 24, 2025, in Colorado, Idaho, Oregon and Washington. They were sold in 2.5-pound cheese wheels by Twin Sisters and re-packaged into 5 and 6-ounce half-moon-shaped pieces by the Peterson company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cE. coli Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems,\u201d the Peterson company warned in its&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/safety\/recalls-market-withdrawals-safety-alerts\/peterson-company-recalls-twin-sisters-creamery-brand-whatcom-blue-and-farmhouse-cheese-products\"><u>recall announcement<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What are the recalled products?<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The recalled Twin Sisters Creamery cheeses include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Whatcom Blue with batch codes: 250527B, 250610B, 250618B, and 250624B<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Farmhouse with batch codes: 250603F, 250616B<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Peppercorn with batch code: 250603P<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Mustard Seed with batch code: 250616M<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Whatcom Blue and Farmhouse cheeses were also distributed by the Peterson Company, and have the following&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/cheese-recall-as-warning-issued-over-food-poisoning-10950679\"><u>manufacturing codes<\/u><\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Whatcom Blue: 793511, 781511, 775511, 761511<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Farmhouse: 765511, 752511, 738511, 726511<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reported illnesses in connection to recall<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">So far, three cases of illness from Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli have been reported in Oregon and Washington, resulting in one hospitalization.<br><br>According to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/doh.wa.gov\/you-and-your-family\/illness-and-disease-z\/foodborne-illness\/outbreaks\/2025-outbreak-shiga-toxin-producing-e-coli-stec-infections-linked-twin-sisters-creamery-aged-raw\"><u>Washington State Department of Health<\/u><\/a>, \u201cThe Oregon case reported consuming Twin Sisters Creamery Farmhouse cheese prior to onset of symptoms.\u201d Additionally, \u201cmolecular fingerprinting of the bacteria from the three cases is extremely similar, suggesting a common source is the cause of the infections.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The illnesses are not associated with cheeses re-packaged by the Peterson Company, according to the company\u2019s announcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Consumers in possession of the recalled cheeses are advised to dispose of them and sanitize any surfaces that the product may have come into contact with.
