Two families were targeted in separate armed home invasions in Philadelphia this weekend, authorities said, and the search is on for the suspects in both cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Philadelphia police said they’re looking into if the cases could be linked, but they said “at this time, there\u2019s no indication that they are.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The first home invasion was around 1:41 a.m. Saturday, right as a family arrived home, police said. Armed suspects pushed their way into the house, restrained the family and stole belongings, police said.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n The suspects then abducted two family members at gunpoint and took them to another location about 4 miles away where the suspects “continued their criminal actions and inflicted physical harm,” police said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Responding officers tried to intervene at that second location, with one officer firing a gun, police said. No one was hurt and the armed suspects fled the scene, police said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Police said the family suffered injuries, but the department did not elaborate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Then, at around 12:14 a.m. on Sunday — at a house about 4 miles away from the home targeted on Saturday morning — a dad was sitting on his front porch when a man dressed in black and armed with a gun approached him, police said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The gunman forced his way into the house and used zip ties to tie up the man, his wife and their daughter, police said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The gunman stole $1,000 in cash, hit the dad on the head with the gun and then fled the scene, police said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The victims were able to quickly free themselves and call police, authorities said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The dad suffered head injuries and the daughter reported abrasions from the restraints, police said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Both investigations are ongoing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
