President Trump\u2002<\/u><\/a>slammed Rep. Ilhan Omar\u2002<\/u><\/a>(D-Minn.) and Somalia on Thursday, a day after a resolution to formally reprimand the Minnesota Democrat and remove her from committee assignments failed in the House<\/u><\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI think she\u2019s terrible. I think she should be impeached. I think she\u2019s terrible,\u201d the president told reporters aboard Air Force One on Thursday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSo how are they doing? How\u2019s your government? Do they have a president? Do they have a council? Do they have anything? Do they have police? I love these people,\u201d Trump added. \u201cThey come from a place with nothing, nothing, no, anything, and then they tell us how to run our country.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIf she got censured, that\u2019s great, if she got impeached, that\u2019s even better,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump\u2019s remarks about Omar, who was born in Somalia before her family came to the U.S. in the 1990s, came after the House voted to table the resolution, brought by Rep. Nancy Mace\u2002<\/u><\/a>(R-S.C.), to rebuke the Minnesota lawmaker. Mace alleged Omar \u201csmeared Charlie Kirk\u2002<\/u><\/a>and implied he was to blame for his own murder\u201d in retweeting a video on social media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Wednesday, the House voted 214-213 to table the resolution. Four GOP lawmakers joined the Democrats to defeat the resolution. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThank you to my colleagues for having my back and not furthering lies on the House floor. Appreciate them safeguarding first amendment protections and the usage of the censure,\u201d Omar said<\/u><\/a> on social media after the vote. \u201cFinally some sanity in the House.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump, who has gone after<\/u><\/a> Omar\u2019s Somali roots before, also hammered Somalia on Thursday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIlhan Omar\u2019s Country of Somalia is plagued by a lack of central Government control, persistent Poverty, Hunger, Resurgent Terrorism, Piracy, decades of Civil War, Corruption, and pervasive Violence,\u201d the president wrote in a Thursday evening post<\/u><\/a> on Truth Social. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump said that \u201c70 percent of the population lives in extreme Poverty, and widespread Food Insecurity. Somalia is consistently ranked among the World\u2019s Most Corrupt Countries, including Bribery, Embezzlement and a Dysfunctional Government.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hill has reached out to Omar\u2019s office for comment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump then accused Omar of marrying her brother to get U.S. citizenship. Omar has long denied these accusations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAll of this, and Ilhan Omar tells us how to run America! P.S. Wasn\u2019t she the one that married her brother in order to gain Citizenship??? What SCUM we have in our Country, telling us what to do, and how to do it,\u201d the president said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
