{"id":46882,"date":"2025-09-02T04:45:47","date_gmt":"2025-09-02T09:45:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=46882"},"modified":"2025-09-02T03:46:19","modified_gmt":"2025-09-02T08:46:19","slug":"two-found-dead-after-flooding-in-san-antonio","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=46882","title":{"rendered":"Two found dead after flooding in San Antonio"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">A man and woman who were said to be friends were found dead after overnight flooding in San Antonio, the city&#8217;s police chief said Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">An acquaintance reported the pair missing, and another friend found the woman&#8217;s body Monday, Chief William McManus told&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/news4sanantonio.com\/news\/local\/two-homeless-people-drowned-during-sunday-nights-downpours-salado-creek-maltsburger-lane-heavy-rain\">NBC affiliate WOAI of San Antonio<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The man was found roughly 100 yards downstream along a section of Salado Creek near San Antonio International Airport, the chief said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">San Antonio received more than 4 inches of rain by 7 a.m. Monday, according to National Weather Service data. Two inches fell within a three-hour span late Sunday, the weather service numbers show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">&#8220;Both of them, we believe, got washed up in the water last night or this morning,&#8221; McManus said. &#8220;Apparently, they were friends.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">He added that the two &#8220;appear to be&#8221; homeless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Their identities have not been disclosed, and the Bexar County Medical Examiner&#8217;s Office did not immediately respond to a request for information Monday evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">McManus said the deaths are under investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Salado Creek north of downtown is described by the chief as a location of homeless encampments and tunnels. The city has transformed some of the historic creek, known as the location of a key battle against Mexican forces in 1842, into a &#8220;greenway&#8221; for hikers and pedestrians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The region was under a federal flood watch overnight and into the morning, with forecasters saying that rainstorms were whipped up by a &#8220;frontal boundary&#8221; between two air masses, one warm, one cool \u2014 a classic recipe for downpours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The region was expected to remain dry through Friday after the last of the rain-producing clouds move east on Monday, the weather service said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/two-found-dead-flooding-san-antonio-rcna228444\">Nbcnews<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A man and woman who were said to be friends were found dead after overnight flooding in San Antonio, the city&#8217;s police chief said Monday.
