President Donald Trump on Thursday revoked the Secret Service detail for former Vice President Kamala Harris that was previously extended by former President Joe Biden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, fallout continues from the White House’s attempt to remove Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Susan Monarez.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Health and Human Services Deputy Secretary Jim O’Neill has been tapped as the interim director of the CDC, a White House official confirmed to ABC News.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chairman James Comer announced Sunday that the House Oversight Committee will hold a private and bipartisan meeting with victims of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell\u2019s abuse on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Committee is in contact with Epstein survivors and a private, bipartisan Oversight Committee Member Meeting with survivors of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislane Maxwell\u2019s crimes will be held on Tuesday, September 2,\u201d Comer said in a release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The survivors are also slated to join a news conference on Capitol Hill with Reps. Thomas Massie and Ro Khanna on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Additionally, Comer sent a letter on Sunday to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent requesting \u201crelevant suspicious activity reports (SARs) to assist the Committee\u2019s oversight of the federal government\u2019s enforcement of sex trafficking laws, specifically in connection with the investigation and prosecution of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt is essential that Treasury produce to the Committee certain SARs to assist the Committee\u2019s oversight of the federal government\u2019s enforcement of sex trafficking laws generally and specifically its handling of the investigation and prosecution of Mr. Jeffrey Epstein and Ms. Ghislaine Maxwell. This oversight will inform legislative solutions to improve federal efforts to combat sex trafficking and reform the use of non-prosecution agreements and\/or plea agreements in sex crime investigation,\u201d Comer said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The committee wants the information from Treasury on or before Sept. 15.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
White House trade adviser Peter Navarro said Sunday \u201cit will be the end of the United States\u201d if Trump\u2019s global tariffs are ultimately blocked by the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis was weaponized partisan injustice at its worst,\u201d Navarro said in an interview on Fox News\u2019 \u201cSunday Morning Futures.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Navarro echoed Trump\u2019s critical comments after a federal appeals court on Friday ruled that most of the sweeping global tariffs were unlawful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSo it was a bad decision. But the good news is the dissent was very, very strong. I think it provides a very clear road map to how the Supreme Court can certainly rule in our favor,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe feel very optimistic. If we lose the case. President Trump is right. It will be the end for the United States,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Trump later Sunday reiterated his claim on his social media platform, saying that without tariffs, \u201cour Country would be completely destroyed, and our military power would be instantly obliterated.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., said Sunday that he\u2019s confident his discharge petition to release the full Jeffrey Epstein files will have enough signatures and then pass on the House floor once the lower chamber returns this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Khanna told NBC\u2019s \u201cMeet the Press\u201d that the petition — which is also being led by GOP Rep. Thomas Massie — will officially go live on Tuesday. Khanna and Massie need 218 signatures to force GOP leaders to hold a vote on the floor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have all 212 Democrats committed to signing it. He [Massie] has 12 Republicans. Only six of them have to sign it,\u201d Khanna said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
House Speaker Mike Johnson told ABC\u2019s \u201cGood Morning America\u201d last week, \u201cIf it\u2019s necessary, we will,\u201d regarding a vote on the measure. Johnson had previously voiced strong opposition to the legislation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But Khanna said a scheduled Wednesday news conference at the Capitol with Epstein victims will be \u201cexplosive.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There will be \u201c10 Epstein victims, many who have never spoken out before,\u201d Khanna said. \u201cThey’re going to be on the steps of the Capitol. They will be telling their story, and they will be saying clearly to the American public that they want the release of the Epstein files for full closure on this matter.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
President Donald Trump said on Saturday night that he plans to issue an executive order to require voter identification for all elections in the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cVoter I.D. Must Be Part of Every Single Vote. NO EXCEPTIONS! I Will Be Doing An Executive Order To That End!!!\u201d Trump wrote in in part in a post on Truth Social.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Trump did not divulge specifics or timing about the executive order. ABC News has reached out to the White House for comment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The president also reiterated that he\u2019ll restrict mail-in voting except for people who are \u201cvery ill\u201d and the “far away military.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
