Caribbean Matters: U.S.-manufactured guns are flooding the region, smuggled ‘in very creative ways’
Right-wing zealots\u00a0foam at the mouth about hordes of \u201ccriminals\u201d who are\u00a0\u201cpouring across our border,\u201d\u00a0stereotyping refugees from the Caribbean and Latin America who seek asylum in the United States\u00a0as\u00a0\u201cillegals,\u201d\u2002armed thugs, and drug dealers.\u00a0It\u2019s\u00a0necessary to point to the irony of this position:\u00a0Those anti-migrant voices also support and sustain the National Rifle Association (NRA) and U.S. gun manufacturers, whose very products are wreaking havoc in the Caribbean and Latin America.
Heads of state in the Caribbean are once again speaking out about arms manufactured here in the U.S. being smuggled into their countries to abet criminal activities and homicides.

Ralph Gonsalves, the prime minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, has urged American government officials to take action against the ease with which firearms are imported into and exported from Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) nations.<\/p>\n
