Conservatives are mocking former<\/u><\/a> FBI Director James Comey\u2002<\/u><\/a>over a post he made on his Substack on Sunday in which he discussed his admiration for pop superstar Taylor Swift.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The post features a video of Comey calling Swift \u201ca truly inspirational public figure\u201d and noting her recent appearance on NFL stars\u2019 Jason and Travis Kelce\u2019s podcast \u201cNew Heights.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTaylor Swift\u2002<\/u><\/a>and I go way back. I went to my first concert of hers 15 years ago. I\u2019ve been to a second and I have helped financially support the attendance of a lot of family members and others. I\u2019m in a family\u2019s Swiftie group chat. I know all her music, and I listen to it in my headphones when I cut the grass,\u201d Comey said in the video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In response to Comey\u2019s video, conservative personality Benny Johnson said that \u201cA new James Comey hostage video just dropped.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis time he calls himself a \u2018Swiftie\u2019 and says Taylor Swift helps him cope with Donald Trump. You really can\u2019t make this up,\u201d Johnson added in a Sunday post<\/u><\/a> on the social platform X.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Comey video, the former FBI director also states that \u201cwe need to stand up to jerks and defend what matters, but I think we have to try to do that without becoming like them, which is what makes me think about Taylor Swift.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShe\u2019s made clear that she sees Donald Trump\u2002<\/u><\/a>for what he is, and last year, she urged Americans not to make the serious mistake of electing him,\u201d Comey added. \u201cOf course, we\u2019re now living with the consequences of that mistake, but while our elderly makeup- covered president is posting about whether Taylor Swift is still hot and declaring that he can\u2019t stand her, what\u2019s she doing? Living her best life.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conservative commentator Dinesh D\u2019Souza also said on<\/u><\/a> X Sunday that Comey was attempting \u201cnow to come across as a normal guy, a Taylor Swift fan, and a champion of civility and decorum\u201d in the wake of \u201cusing his power for years to entrap Trump, Flynn and others.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hill has reached out to a representative for Comey and the White House for comment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Comey was fired as FBI director by Trump during his first term, and the two have feuded for years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this year, Comey made waves when he posted an image of shells on a seashore spelling out \u201c86 47.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He deleted the post after criticism, saying he did not recognize<\/u><\/a> it as something that could be seen as promoting violence toward the president.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Comey\u2019s daughter, Maureen Comey, was fired<\/u><\/a> in July from her job as a prosecutor for the U.S. attorney\u2019s office<\/u><\/a> for the Southern District of New York (SDNY). The firing was largely seen as politically motivated given Trump\u2019s feelings for Comey and his desire for loyalists throughout his administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
